Q: How does it work?
A: ECOCAF systems are powered by compressed air. They use a mixture of water and foam solution to create fire fighting foam that is much more effective than water. The foam solution reduces the surface tension of water to allow it to soak into the burning material. This both cools the material and extinguishes the fire.
Q: How do I charge the system?
A: To fill and charge the system you start by putting in the required amount of water and corresponding amount of foam solution. Each size system has different requirement. Then charge the tank with compressed air to 175 psi. Its that simple. We will perform the initial set up for you during delivery. We recommend that each year prior to fire season the system be drained and reset. If you deploy the system and need to refill it for ongoing use then can be done in the field with an air compressor and garden hose. In the event you don't have electricity or running water we recommend you have stored water (in a barrel or 5 gallon jugs) and a battery powered air compressor that can run from a car battery. We can supply you with those items as well.
Q: Is the foam safe for humans and animals?
A: The foam is biodegradable and is approved by the Forest Service. It is the same foam solution used by firefighters around the world to fight wild fire. Other variations are available for different types of fuel (like jet fuel and chemical fires) as well. We do not recommend allowing pets to drink it. Contact on skin may cause irritation. Rinsing with water if skin contact occurs is recommended.

From the manufacturer:
We supply Eco-friendly, environmentally safe fire fighting foam. Our foam concentrates do not contain any ingredients reportable under the Superfund amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA Title III, Section 313 of 40 CFR-372 or Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA).
Q: What maintenance is required for ECO CAF systems?
A: Maintenance is minimal. It’s recommended to discharge (“shot”) the unit twice a year to clear air lines of hard water deposits, and to check the PSI gauge annually to ensure it’s functioning properly.
Q: Can I use any foam concentrate with ECO CAF systems?
A: Yes. ECO CAF units are compatible with a variety of concentrates, including Class A, B, AFFF, and alcohol-resistant (AR) foams.
Q: How can I adjust the foam consistency (wet vs. dry)?
A: You can adjust foam quality by partially closing the discharge valve—about 50%—to get a wetter foam. Additionally, partially closing the hose nozzle (~50–75%) will strip bubbles and produce wetter output.
Q: What if a part is broken in the field—can it be replaced?
A: Yes. Replacement parts or components can be ordered through Flameguardians.com
Q: What kind of warranty comes with ECO CAF systems?
A: Each system includes a non-transferable, two-year warranty covering manufacturing defects.
Q: Can I use nitrogen instead of standard compressed air?
A: Yes. Nitrogen is an effective alternative to compressed air for these systems.
Q: How does ECO CAF differ from traditional CAF systems?
A: ECO CAF units are self-contained, requiring no high-pressure air bottles, pumps, or motors. They use standard air compressors, have fewer components to maintain, and utilize biodegradable, non-caustic foams—all while conserving water and offering extended reach.
Q: What types of foam concentrates does ECO CAF offer for different fire scenarios?
A: ECO CAF supports several specialized concentrates:
• ECOPOL A (Class B, fluorine‑free): Effective for hydrocarbon fires, 100% biodegradable, and ICAO Level B certified .
• ECOPOL PREMIUM (AR, fluorine‑free): Alcohol‑resistant foam with superior performance and environmental safety .
• ECOPOL F (Class A, wildland): Ideal for wildland and forest fires, fluorine‑free, USDA and NFPA‑compliant .
• BIO FOR N (Class A/B): High wetting and foaming properties suited for wildland, structure, and minor hydrocarbon fires .
• BIO T3 (Training foam): Biodegradable foam that drains quickly for safe training use .
Q: What return of foam and discharge range do the different ECO CAF models offer?
A: • ECO CAF KIT: Converts a 2.5-gallon can into ~30 gallons of foam, with throw up to ~40 feet .
• ECO CAF 12 POLY SKID: Produces ~100 gallons of foam, with a 50-foot throw (optional SCBA adapter enables up to 240 gallons) .
• ECO CAF 30 POLY SKID: Produces ~300 gallons of foam, with a 65-foot throw (optional SCBA adapter enables up to 600 gallons) .
• ECO CAF 60 POLY SKID: Produces ~600 gallons of foam, with a 75-foot throw (optional SCBA adapter enables up to 1200 gallons) .
• ECO CAF 120: Yields 1,200–2,400 gallons of foam at 20:1 ratio, with a 75-foot discharge range .
Q: How long does it take to refill an ECO CAF system?
A: 1 Refills are fast and simple using a standard air compressor—no need for powerful compressors, high-pressure cylinders, or complex infrastructure.
2. What pressure range is required for ECO CAF operation?
– Typically between 100–175 PSI, depending on the model (e.g., KIT uses 100–120 PSI, larger skid units operate around 150–175 PSI).
Q: Can I get this product direct from manufacturer?
A: The manufacturer only sells to dealers like Flame Guardians.
